What? Can the devil speak true? Giffnock Theatre Players are performing their first ever Shakespearean production this October, Macbeth.
Macbeth is a brave Scottish general who is admired and trusted by King Duncan. However, when he meets three witches who prophesise that he will one day be King, he becomes consumed with greed and ambition for power.
Pushed, encouraged and manipulated by his wife, Macbeth’s life spirals out of control as his fate unfolds and he embarks upon a course of murder, guilt, paranoia, obsession and madness.
As the rehearsals have been taking place, photographer Kev Thomas has said:”It’s been a real pleasure to be able to watch these rehearsals as the actors start to become their characters, looking for those hidden nuances, the back-story, behind each role which allows them to fully immerse themselves into the part. Even during rehearsals the actors have managed to have the hair on the back of my neck stand up.”
The play runs at Eastwood Park Theatre in Glasgow’s Southside from 22nd to 25th October 2014. All performances start at 7.30pm, with an additional performance on Saturday 25th October starting at 2.30pm. Tickets are £13 (£11 concessions available), and may be purchased by phoning 07518 201 756 or 0141 577 4956, or by emailing tickets-gtp@hotmail.co.uk or by visiting www.eastwoodparktheatre.co.uk. Tickets may also be purchased in person at the theatre’s box office.
